St. Vincent and the Grenadines upgrade their mobile app

Globetrotters seeking a truly off-the-beaten-path getaway filled with
quiet azure waters, unspoiled forests, and stunning white sand beaches
can take advantage of St.Vincent and the Grenadines' (SVG) newly upgraded
mobile app.

The free app, which was first launched in April 2011, now provides an even
clearer snapshot of the "ins and outs" of this multi-faceted
destination. With a more user-friendly interface, coupled with updated
iPhone [6] and iPad [7] versions (via the Apple iTunes Store) as well
as the Android [8] and a Web app version for all handheld touch
devices such as Blackberry available at discoversvg.com [9], eager
travelers can discover the true "Vincy" experience on the fly in ways
that are now much more accessible.

The upgraded SVG app features a wealth of information on the 32
islands and cays, namely greater content on each of the nine inhabited
islands (such as "Where to Stay" and "Where to Dine"). There is also
updated contact information on myriad land and sea operators within
the country's niche markets including sailing, diving, soft adventure,
and weddings/honeymoons. The app now includes an even wider range of
new photography, video, and maps that showcase the different SVG
experiences--from beautiful coral reefs seen in the Tobago Cays while
diving to major festivals and events like Vincy Mas.

Social media sharing on the app is another enhancement that now exists
on a more in-depth platform, linking SVG's Facebook [10] and Twitter
[11] profiles as well as Pinterest [12] page. As the "Critter
Capital," SVG's app now features an interactive underwater game that
allows users to match up some of the rarest underwater creatures to
their proper names via "drag and drop" options. The app also boasts
media highlights linked to top stories and headlines that rave about
this must-visit, idyllic destination.

"For all their charming remoteness, SVG's 32 islands and cays have
something for everyone whether it be the family traveler, the solace
and romance-seeker, or the adventurous explorer," said Glen Beache,
CEO of the St. Vincent and The Grenadines Tourism Authority. "The
upgraded app does a powerful job communicating that to travelers, as
we are always seeking new and engaging ways to draw in potential
visitors."

The enhancement of the mobile app comes at an ideal time when numerous
projects have been implemented to transform the tourism industry and
make SVG one of the most sought-after destinations in the Caribbean.
Chief among them is the construction of the new Argyle International
Airport, which will replace the existing ET Joshua Airport. Scheduled
for completion in late 2013, the new airport will offer direct
international jet service from the U.S., Canada and Europe and will
handle more than five times the capacity of the current airport. All
of the Argyle International Airport updates and newly created
photography have been captured at great length under both the app's
"Airport" and "How To Get There" sections. Travelers can find an array
of information on the different airline carriers and gateway cities,
while also learning how travel to SVG will soon become much more
streamlined.

Other noteworthy SVG developments showcased throughout the app are
newly built hotels as well as major renovations of existing resorts.
SVG extends a welcoming hand of inborn hospitality to just about every
taste and wallet, from intimate-sized, family-owned hotels and
boutique properties to private island resorts.

The SVG mobile app was developed by Spring O'Brien, a New York-based
public relations and advertising agency. The app can also be accessed
via QR Code (a two-dimensional barcode) with the simple click of a
button.
