Temazcal at Aventura Spa Palace

One of the unique experiences available to the Aventura Spa Palace guests is the Temazcal.  This traditional Mexican sweat bath, developed in Mesoamerica hundreds or even thousands of years ago, is similar to the ancient sweat lodge tradition of the indigenous peoples of the United States. The name Temazcal comes from the native Nahuatl (Aztec) language for “bath house,” and describes a small round stone structure with a pit holding hot volcanic rocks. In the Temazcal treatment, water is poured on the hot rocks to produce steam that is calming and therapeutic. You also take a spiritual journey of purification and enlightenment led by a traditional shaman.
